Reflection

Nash Equilibrium – The Nash Equilibrium consists of two sides that can both gain profit. They both gain profit without changing the strategies of each other.

Game Theory – Game Theory is all around us in the world today. It is where someone bases their strategy off of how another person is acting.

Prisoner Dilemma – It is very similar to Game Theory. It is when someone is being forced to make a decision that affects both sides.

The Serendip online interactive dilemma game was very interesting. This game was very life like. If I kept cooperating with it, it would keep agreeing with me as well. This was maximizing both of our profits. However, the moment that I disagreed, they disagreed in every round that followed. They wanted revenge for when I betrayed them.

In History: The cold war, the U.S and Soviet Union were in a giant game of chess with each other.

In Government: Both political parties won’t agree on certain things unless the other does. This goes the same for disagreeing on certain things.

In Economics: Oil companies will raise and lower their prices to deal with other companies.

Sociology: Sociology is the study of how this works, so it is worked with every day.

Psychology: Studies how the mind reacts in certain situations like this.

Everyday life: You make decisions based on these theories all day long, whether to turn left or right, eat something or not.

I thought that the oil producing game was very fun/interesting to play. You really got to see people’s true personalities and interests. For example, some people just wanted more money while others wanted to be honest and fair to the other group. I really liked the fact that we hid the scores. That made the suspense that much more.

My overall rating is a 10. I really enjoyed doing these games. I really do not think there is any way to better this chapter. I think that if it is done the way we did it, that is the best way.

Ink Blot Test

In class we took a look at the Rorshach Inkblot Test. After comparing our answers to what people most normally see, I was quite interested with the results. On many of the tests the answer I chose is not even one of the “common answers” on the website. So, I don’t know if that means anything or not, but the thought is quite captivating. For instance, on one of the blots it said that I should have seen a face or multiple faces. I saw two pistols lined up opposite from one another and in their holsters. There were several other blots that this happened on as well! But, I did find some images that were described on the website as well!

I do not think that these tests are very liable. I do not really know how they can base someone’s personal likeness on what they see. Everybody sees different things. The thing I really do not understand is how people can say that someone has schizophrenia or paranoia because they saw an oil lamp in a picture. I did see the oil lamp, and I am pretty sure I do not have schizophrenia or paranoia. This is just one example of why I do not believe that these tests are reliable and/or accurate.

One Big Blur

The human eyes are very complex organs in the human body. They are what we use to see with. According to a new study, each eye is not what it seems. They are actually seeing blurred images. The thing that helps us to see these images clearly is our brain. Our brain acts as a medium that takes the two different “levels” of blurriness that our eyes are seeing, and turn them into one clear picture. What I mean by two “levels” is that each eye sees a blur. However, both eyes see a different type of blur. The left eye will see a completely different blur than the right eye! So therefore, the brain takes both of these blurs and finds the happy medium of the two blurs. This happy medium is the images we see when we open our eyes. Our brain has to work all the time, just so we are able to see what is happening.

1. 73. About Average.    2. No I don't think so.
1. 46. Bad.     2. Yeah maybe.
1. 97. Average.    2. Yes, it seemed like an actual IQ test.
A. What is intelligence? The ability for someone to solve a problem on their own.
Which is more important: Emotional Intelligence, or Intellectual Intelligence? I believe that emotional is, because if your emotional intelligence isn't in check, then that could effect your intellectual intelligence.
Is intelligence learned or inherited? I believe that intelligence is mainly inherited. You will think the same way your parents do.
What did you learn about yourself while doing these tests? I learned that I am pretty much average, but I think that I could do better on an actual IQ test.

Sense of Sight

There are five senses that are important to the human body, and to memory. I think that the most important one is sight! Without sight, you wouldn’t be able to see what you smell, see the thing that is making a noise, or even see what you are picking up! Memory without sight would be very difficult also. Yes, you could recognize smells, sounds, tastes, and textures, but things would be a lot easier if you could see what it is. I think that sight is the most important, however, I would not like to lose any of the senses that we possess as human beings.

Memory Storage

I think that the most important stage of memory is the long-term memory storage. I think that this is important to me in my life because every skill that I learn on the farm, I need to do it again in the future. Take replacing sickles on the sickle mower for example. My dad showed me how to replace them a few years ago, every year since I have had to replace them. So, I am recollecting from my memory, the technique I used to replace them. This is the same with many other things that I do on the farm. I think that long-term memory storage is very important, and keeps your body safe/helps you recall skills you learned way back when you were younger, or even last year.

Water skiing

During the summer one of my favorite pass-times is water skiing. Waterskiing is one of my most favorite things to do at the lake. One day a few years ago, James Erickson finally built up the courage to try skiing. He asked me to help him, so I did!

First, I took him down on the dock and showed him how to wear the skis. I explained how to put them on and how to keep them straight. I demonstrated this part. Next, I showed him how to keep his knees bent and stay in the “ball position”. Then finally, I taught him how to stand up, and let go of the rope.

After I showed/demonstrated all of this he decided to give it a go. He fell a few times but he eventually got the hang of it and now loves to ski just like I do. I am very happy that I got this opportunity to show him how to ski!
